Class 4A eighth ranked Nevada was too much for Greene County High School’s volleyball team to handle on Tuesday night in Nevada. Coach Donna Carhill’s Rams fell to the Cubs in straight sets by scores of 12-25, 14-25, 17-25, in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference match.
“Nevada is a disciplined and scrappy team and we just couldn’t stay with them throughout the match. We had moments where we competed right along with them, but could not sustain any type of momentum.”
Nadia Fisher was 13 for 16 serving with two aces serves, and she led the Rams in kills with 11. Kenna Marquardt went nine for nine serving and Hannah Stein was six for six. Hannah Promes had 18 assists and 10 digs. Megan Durbin led the team in digs with 15.
The Cubs improved to 24-9 overall and they clinched no worse than a tie for the conference title at 7-0. The Rams fell to 7-16 and 2-4.
Next up for the Rams is the Pella Little Dutch tournament on Saturday, Oct. 8.
