Several Greene County 4-H’ers and volunteers were recognized for their efforts at the annual awards day ceremony on Sunday at Deal’s Orchard.
Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Hyett says they had a great turnout. 4-H awards are based on record books and 52 4-H’ers were recognized for their efforts. Of those, the outstanding record books awards went to junior 4-H’er Grace Curtis, intermediate 4-H’er Caden Etherton and senior 4-H’er Abby Badger and Emily Heupel.
The adult awards went to the late Monica McGregor as the Greene County representative who was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame, 4-H Alumni Award went to Marcia Roeder, Laura Ballard received the Honorary 4-H Award, the Friend of 4-H Award was given to the Jefferson VFW Post #9599 and Lesa Ceil won the Meritorious Award.
Hyett describes this year’s 4-H Club that won the window decorating contest and will receive a pizza party.
“This club did a nice job of demonstrating the national campaign of 4-H grows. They made a tree and showed pictures of their 4-H’ers from the time they started 4-H to where they are today and that club is the Hardin Clovers.”
