Today is the big day for cross country teams all across the state of Iowa with the commencement of the state qualifying meets.

For the ADM Tiger cross country teams, today means another shot at taking on the Atlantic course which is the site of ADM’s state qualifying meet today. Both Tiger teams were thwarted by mother nature in their attempt to take on the Atlantic course back on October 6th, a course which ADM head cross country coach David Zwank notates as quite the challenge. Coach Zwank spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio about his thoughts on the course and states while it may be challenging, it’s still a familiar course for the Tigers.

“It’s a quality course. It’s got some terrain to it. We definitely have seen it year in and year out with the regular season meet that we go to. Too bad that we didn’t get to run there this year. We know it, we know the terrain and we’ve taken some time to look over that and talk about the places where you’ve got to keep yourself on pace and how you can use the up and the down hill while keeping in mind where your at with other folks. Definitely a challenging course and in some ways that’s what you want at the end of the season,” stated coach Zwank.

Both Tiger teams will strive to be one of the top three teams to move on to the state meet while individually striving to be one of the top 15 runners who will advance to the state meet in Fort Dodge on October 29th.

The girls race will kick things off at 4:00 pm with the boys race to follow at 5:00 pm from the Atlantic Golf & Country Club.
