The Iowa Girls High School State Swimming Championships are Saturday in Marshalltown and Greene County High School junior Haley Hall will be swimming in two relays for Boone. Hall and five other Greene County students swim for the Toreadors under the guidelines of an athletic sharing agreement.

Hall swims the butterfly leg in the 200 medley relay, as well as a leg in the 400 freestyle relay. The medley enters with the eleventh fastest time from regional competition while the freestyle is 21st. There are 24 qualifiers in each event.

She swam at State last year on a relay, and talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about this year compared to last. “We’re a lot more excited. We know what it was like last year, so we know how to prepare and what to expect when we walk in. We probably won’t be as emotional this year as we were last year, but we’re hoping we do better.” She added being in the top eight and getting to stand on the podium during the awards ceremony is a goal.

Swimming Saturday at the Marshalltown YMCA starts at 12:30 p.m.
