
The unofficial election results for Greene County are in.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, Greene County voted for Donald Trump and Mike Pence for president with 58 percent of the 4,871 total ballots cast to 35 percent for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine.
As for the contested races for US Senate, Republican Charles Grassley defeated Democrat Patty Judge with 67 percent of the votes. For US House District Four, Republican Steve King won over Democrat Kim Weaver with 58 percent of the votes.
The contested race for Iowa Senate District 24 had Republican Jerry Behn defeating Democrat Keith Puntenney with 68 percent to 31 percent of the votes. Greene County voters also chose Republican Chip Baltimore over Democrat Deb Duncan for Iowa House District 47 with 65 to 34 percent of the votes.
At the local level, Republican Mick Burkett beat Democrat Alan Robinson for Supervisor District One with 2,909 votes to 1,572 votes respectively.
Supervisor District Four winner was Republican John Muir with 69 percent of the votes over Democrat Todd Madson’s 30 percent. Muir tells Raccoon Valley Radio about his reaction to being re-elected to another term as Supervisor.
“Well I would like to thank everybody that voted for me obviously. And now, I hope I’ve done a good job the last ten years and hopefully for the next four (years) I can live up to the expectations.”
As for Supervisor District Five, Republican Pete Bardole defeated Guy Richardson with 2,654 votes to Richardson’s 1,719 votes. Bardole talks about winning the Supervisor seat.

“I’m very excited for what we can do as a county and being a big part of that. I definitely like to thank everybody that supported me, voted for me and helped me through the whole election.”
The other contested race was for Jefferson City Council Ward Two. The winner was Dan Benitz with 1,176 votes to Matt Wetrich’s 342 and Kirk Hammer’s 335 votes.
Other county elected positions were Sheriff, which Jack Williams ran unopposed Auditor, which incumbent Jane Heun also ran unopposed.
There was a 71.43 percent voter turnout. The results are unofficial until the Supervisor canvass the votes at the next meeting on Monday.
