The pleasant and unseasonably warm fall weather has kept construction projects going.
One project in Guthrie County is a box culvert north of Menlo on the Menlo dump road.
“The culvert is just probably here shortly will be completely poured and then we’ll start backfilling and stuff. So hopefully if this weather holds off we’ll be able to wrap that one up this year.”
That’s County Engineer Josh Sebern and he describes how his secondary road crews will help with some of the projects.
“Some of the smaller projects, the bridge projects, the culvert projects, a lot of times the contractor will get it all back filled and we’ll come in and do the final grading and rock the road. That’s kind of how that works for us.”
He adds that they are also getting their gravel material made north of Jamacia along the Raccoon River. That way, Sebern points out, they will have additional gravel material to apply to the gravel roads after the winter season next year.
