It’s the start of the 2016-17 high school girls’ basketball season for the Greene County Rams. Coach Dean Lyons’ team makes its longest road trip of the season tonight when they face Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponent PCM in Monroe. Game time for the varsity is approximately 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams were 3-18 last season and hope to improve in all areas of the game, including offensive scoring average where they averaged just 26.6 points per contest. Leading scorer Laurin Lyons returns after averaging 7.7 points as a tenth grader. Several others are back who gained varsity experience a season ago.

PCM averaged 41 points a game last season and 39 of those points return. The Mustangs won both meetings with the Rams in 2015-16 by double digits. PCM has already played a game and is 1-0 after a non-conference victory on Saturday night over Knoxville, 49-19.
