The ACGC Charger wrestling team took to the road last night at Coon Rapids-Bayard high school for their annual contest taking on Coon Rapids-Bayard and Bedford/Lenox high schools.
First up for the Chargers last night was a match up against the hometown Coon Rapids-Bayard squad. It was a hard fought match up that ACGC came out on top on defeating the hometown team 45-27 behind 4 forfeits, 3 wins by fall, and one win by 5-4 decision.
With their next match up the Chargers would face off against the Bedford/Lenox Bulldogs and it would turn out to be a much closer match for ACGC although when the dust settled, they would find themselves on the loosing end of a 48-33 loss. 6 wins in total for the Chargers against the Bulldogs. Those six wins came on the heels of 4 wins by fall, 1 win by forfeit, and one win by 5-4 decision.
Two of ACGC’s class 1A top ranked wrestlers in Blaine Beeler (preseason ranked 3rd at 106 lbs) and Logan Scheurmann ( preseason ranked 5th at 145 lbs) along with Cole Stetzel and Gabe Rowley all came away with two wins on the night for ACGC.
The Chargers will be on the road for a quick turnaround at the Riverside high school tournament tomorrow. The Chargers will embark upon that tournament tomorrow starting at 10:00 am.
