The Stuart Cottage Pantry is looking for additional food donations ahead of Christmas.

Coordinator Vi Jones appreciates everyone’s donations all year round, especially during the holiday season through January. She says in November, they served 69 households and 259 individuals. She talks about the process of receiving a donation and how they get dispersed.

“Whenever anybody comes in, and whatever is available, they get to choose from a list of what they like and then it goes to the family size of how much they can get. They can then come every other week to the pantry.”

Items needed at this time include boxed stuffing mixes, ketchup, mustard, along with deodorant and toothpaste. Jones adds that they will accept meat, as long as it has been federally inspected.

The food pantry is open every Wednesday, including this Wednesday from 1:30 to 5pm. Jones says if anyone wants to make a donation, they can drop off their food items before they open this Wednesday at 117 North Sherman Street in Stuart.

The Stuart Cottage Pantry services the West Central Valley School District including Guthrie, Adair and Dallas counties.
