The regular season has ended for the Greene County High School wrestling team and the postseason begins on Saturday, Feb. 4 with Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams traveling north to Humboldt for a Class 2A Sectional tournament. The host Wildcats and Rams will be joined by Woodward-Granger, Webster City, Southeast Valley (Gowrie), and Roland-Story (Story City). The top two individuals at each weight class advance to a district meet in Webster City on Feb. 11. The top two teams from the Sectional advance to a Feb. 14 dual meet regional.

The Rams have been relatively healthy this season, but there are injury concerns going into Saturday. Freshman Will Hansen at 126 lbs. told Raccoon Valley Radio he will not be wrestling due to a broken rib. Junior Cayden Gerdes at 132 lbs. is undergoing concussion protocol and Coach Sawhill wasn’t sure if he would be able to go.

Senior Hunter Ruth (220) has the top winning percentage on the team with a 28-3 record. Senior Isaiah Yoder has 113 career victories and is 36-7 this season.

Wrestling in Humboldt begins Saturday at noon.
