It’s T-minus two days until the ADM wrestling team hits the post season mats for the first time of the season as sectional play commences on Saturday.

Although it will be the first post season action for the Tigers this season, it’s not the first time ADM wrestling has experienced nor excelled in post season play. They find themselves just one year removed from a home sectional where they ran away with a first place team finish and 10 individual wrestlers earning top two finishes. Of those ten, 5 were first place winners and 5 were second place winners and of the 10 total, 5 return this season.

Andrew Flora leads the group of those five returners. After a state tournament season last year, the sophomore has followed that up this season with a 39-5 record and a ranking of 8th in the latest class 2A polls at 106 lbs.

The Tigers are now going up against a whole new field full of fresh faces this season welcoming in a six team field comprised of Van Meter/Earlham, Perry, Harlan, Carroll Kuemper, and class 2A’s fourth ranked Atlantic high school. The top two individuals from sectional 5 will head to the district 3 tournament in Harlan on February 11th. It is there that the top two winners from the sectional 5 tournament will wrestle against the top two wrestlers from each weight class from the six team sectional 6 field which holds the likes of class 2A’s third ranked Creston squad.

The Tigers will lay host to the sectional 5 tournament this Saturday beginning at noon inside the ADM north gym.
