Mitch Moore is a central Iowa guy who is extremely excited about being able to remain in this part of the state and be a head high school football coach for the first time. The 2002 Ballard (Huxley) graduate comes to the Rams from Iowa State University where most recently he was in the recruiting department as the Director of High School Relations. He also coached in college elsewhere and on the high school level as well.

A sports performance trainer who has worked with Youth all the way up to professional athletes, Coach Moore will also work as an advisor with the Youth programs in Greene County and will develop and coordinate programs for youngsters of all ages.

On why come to Greene County, Coach Moore said, “My entire life I’ve wanted to be a head coach. Everything I’ve done in the football realm was to be a head coach, and this was just a great opportunity to keep my family close to home, where I grew up. In the college football ranks, it’s a constant revolving door, and you never know what’s next. I worked my way up and was home at Iowa State, but I didn’t know what was next, and I want to come to a place where I can establish a home, be here, and develop some consistency and build a culture at a place I know I can be at for a while and raise a family.”

Coach Moore’s parents live near Kelley, and his wife is from the West Marshall school district and her parents still live there, so location was also a factor. He’s just the fourth person to head the Rams in football since 1977, following the late Bob Thompson, the mostly retired Bill Kibby, and Dean Lansman, who gave up football coaching, but is still Greene County’s Activities Director, head boys’ track & field coach, and a high school science teacher.
