A business that started in 2013 will soon be closed at the end of this month in Jefferson.
Homestead Coffee and Bakery co-owners Ora Stevens and Nahn Ngyien made the announcement earlier this week that they are closing the business on the corner of Lincoln Way and Chestnut streets. Stevens tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they made the difficult decision to close Homestead.
“We’re just really busy. We purchased Uptown (Cafe) a year ago. I am there a lot and as president of the (Greene County) Chamber, I am doing Chamber duties. Nahn, he of course works a second job, so he’s not there as much he is used to be either. But we really had to base it on our quality of life right now.”
Stevens says that when they close the building on March 31st, it will still be available for rent for events or meetings, there just won’t be food or beverages available for purchase. The future of the building is also up in the air. Stevens points out that an option would be to rent the space to other businesses or organizations.
However, if anyone has their free beverage or sandwich coupons after Homestead closes, those will be honored at Uptown Cafe.
Stevens wants to thank everyone for their support.
