The initiation to the 2017 outdoor season officially began yesterday for the ADM girls track and field team in the annual Earlham Early Bird meet.

Picking up right where they left off from Earlham last year, the Lady Tigers had a plethora of phenomenal performances led by eleven first place finishes.

Anna Kenny and Keaton Kester highlighted the day for the Lady Tigers, both walking away with meet records. Anna Kenny cemented herself in the Earlham Early Bird meet record books in the 400 meter dash after she placed first with a time of 1:02.55 while Keaton Kester not only acquired a meet record but a stadium record with her first place finish of 26.38 in the 200 meter dash.

ADM had two top ten finishes in the shot put event with Cailey Pearson earning 10th while Sydney Bertman placed 5th. Sydney Bertman took that performance even further when she took the top spot in the long jump notching a distance of 15-11.25 Sophomore standout Sadie Juergens continued her excellence in the 3000 meter run crossing the line for first place nearly 33 seconds faster than second place with 11:59.13

Ashlie Hauf was close behind Juergens in the 3000 placing third.  The strong  ADM 4 x 100 meter shuttle hurdle relay team comprised of Kylie Hauf, Abigail Culligan, Kristin Bair, and Sami Schepers earned  first place honors with a time of 1:12.90. ADM’s 4 x 800 meter relay team continued the first place parade as the team comprised of Ellie Mueller, Anna Kenny, Elle Hook, and Jordan Hook placed more than a full minute ahead of second place taking a time of 10:28.72.

Keaton Kester continued her dominance in the 100 meter run becoming the reigning three year champion after her time of 12.67. Josi Lonneman earned a strong finish as well in the 100 placing fourth with a time of 13.52.

Sadie Juergens and Ellie Mueller continued strong in the distance events with Juergens placing first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33.49. Ellie Mueller came just short of besting the record for former ADM standout Brianna Mueller in the 1500 meter run but still placed first with a time of 5:48.88

The Lady Tigers continued to show their strength in the relay events placing second in the distance medley, the 4 x 200 meter relay, and the 4 x 100 meter relay.
