The 2017 high school golf seasons start today for the Greene County girls and boys. The Rams play the Carroll High teams with the girls playing at The Hill west of Grand Junction and the boys playing in Carroll. In both cases, it’s JV/varsity action with a 4 p.m. start.
Junior Rachael Danielson leads the Rams on the girls’ side. She is a 2016 State Tournament qualifier in Class 4A, where she finished in eighteenth place.
Junior Elijah Block returns for the Greene County boys. He had the low nine hole average on the team last season at 42.00 per round. Block told Raccoon Valley Radio he thinks the Rams can improve on last season’s four wins. “I think we can. Isaiah (Yoder) and I have both lowered our scores considerably from last year. My little brother has joined the team and he’s pretty good for his age.” Elijah said his driving was good last season, which put him in easy position to score. He’s looking to continue that part of his game, and improve the short game to lower his score even further.
