A non-profit organization invites everyone to a special program next week to help prevent child sex abuse.

Darkness to Light will be providing a workshop on preventing child sex abuse at Stuart Family Resource Center on Tuesday, April 4th, from 6:30-8:30 pm. The two-hour training uses survivor stories and expert insight to supply practical steps to help prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Jeanie Running with Darkness to Light says it important to educate as many people as possible about the dangers that threaten children.

“We need advocates for kids that can’t advocate for themselves. It can be so difficult for children in difficult situations to speak out, but if an adult is trained to recognize signs of abuse, they can speak out for them and get them the help they need.”

It is open to the public and maybe of particular interest to youth organizations, parents, educators, childcare providers and faith centers. Call 712-792·6440, extension 200 to sign up.
