Mixed Martial Arts fights will be held at Wild Rose Casino & Resort Jefferson tonight. It’s the first time the venue has hosted MMA and eight bouts are on the card. Doors open at 6 p.m. with action starting at 7 p.m. for Extreme Challenge 234.
Greene County High School graduate Dylan Forkner of Paton is scheduled to meet Jarod Kirby of Burlington for the vacant EC 145 lbs. amateur title. Forkner is a past State tournament qualifying wrestler for the Rams, and is following in the footsteps of other former wrestling Rams who have gone into MMA.
Most of the fights tonight are of the professional nature, including light heavyweights Houston Alexander and Rakim Cleveland squaring off in the main event. A pair of women’s fights are also scheduled.
In addition, former UFC world champions Matt Hughes, Pat Miletich, Jens Pulver, and Tim Sylvia are scheduled to be on hand for pictures and autographs.
