Guthrie Center Water Department’s infrastructure work will block some traffic this summer. Mainlines will be replaced on 3rd and 4th streets from Grand to Park. Half of the $1 million replacement project is being funded with a community development block grant. Guthrie Center City Administrator Laura Wolfe tells Raccoon Valley Radio a pre-construction meeting for the project is being held soon, and it is not yet known how much effect the construction will have on traffic or how long the project will take. The water mains being replaced are among the oldest still in service in the city.
