Just one day after the Panorama girls track and field team earned the right to be named conference champions, the two time defending class 2A Panther boys golf team did the same thing.

Yesterday the Panthers hosted the rest of the conference at the Lake Panorama National golf course for the annual West Central Activities Conference golf meet. In an overcast day out, the Panther boys would defend their home course with the ultimate outcome earning another conference championship with a team score of 314. Des Moines Christian took a collective 349 for second place while Madrid rounded out the top three with a 363 through 18 holes. Van Meter would end up in fourth with a 377, West Central Valley swiped 5th with a 393, sixth would go to Woodward-Granger with a 395. Ogden would start to round off for the meet with a 408 while a team total of 430 would go to Earlham.

For at least the 5th time this season, the Panthers swept the medalist stand starting with freshmen phenom Kolby Shackelford who walked away with a meet best even par 72 and an all conference first team selection. The runner up medalist and fellow first team all conference selection went to Panorama multi-sport senior George Appleseth with his 18 hole round of 75. Will Babcock also joined the first team all conference  club doing so for the 4th consecutive season after his 18 hole 79. After a career best a few meets ago, Mitch Wagler shot his way into second team all conference with an 88 on the day.

The Panthers are now 41-1 on the year and will have plenty of opportuninties to improve upon that even further starting today with  one on one match up with Coon Rapids-Bayard in Panora. First tee off from the Lake Panorama National golf course begings at 4:00 pm
