The Dallas County Auditor’s Office is still hard at work, even now that the $22.9 million bond referendum has been passed, and work on the new law enforcement facility can proceed.

The vote will remain unofficial until the canvas, which County Auditor Julia Helm said will happen during the May 9 Board of Supervisors meeting. Unofficially, the overall numbers were 5,859 “Yes” votes to 1,690 “No” votes, a difference of 77.61% to 22.39%. Helm said they saw a 14.29% voter turnout, which is higher than any of the three prior bond referendum votes.

She also reported that the measure passed in all 34 precincts, with the smallest margin of 61.3% being in the Lincoln-Washington-Lynn precinct, and the largest margin of 97.33% being in the West Des Moines 321 precinct. Locally, the margin in the three Perry precincts were 79.39, 80.12, and 78.57% respectively, and in the two Adel precincts it was 68.8 and 75.26% respectively. In order to pass, the measure needed to receive 60% yes votes.
