A 16-year-old female was found dead in Perry Friday evening, and the Perry Police Department is investigating the circumstances of her death.

According to a report from Police Chief Eric Vaughn, at around 6:30 p.m. Friday, officers and paramedics were called to the 1700 block of 1st Avenue in regards to an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, the officers found the female deceased. The cause of death is undetermined, but an autopsy is scheduled for early next week. Her identity is not being released at this time.

The Perry Police is being assisted in the investigation by the Iowa Division of Investigation and the Iowa Department of Human Services. Raccoon Valley Radio will continue to monitor the investigation and release information as it’s made available.
