An off-duty Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy suffered an injury at a 4th of July party last week.

According to a gofundme page that was set up by a family member, Deputy Jesse Swensen suffered an eye injury when he was putting his kids into his vehicle to leave a 4th of July party last Friday, then a spark from a firework that was shot too low went into his eye. The family was hoping Jesse’s eye would get better, but it is uncertain whether or not he will regain his eyesight.

A gofundme page has been set up for Jesse to help his family defray some of the cost of making trips to Iowa City for an eye specialist. A link to the page can be found below.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright says Jesse is the type of guy who appreciates everyone’s support, but he wants to get better so he can go back to work in the Sheriff’s office.
