Greene County is just a day away from hosting its only home cross-country meet of the season. The Ram Coed Invitational will be at Spring Lake State Park northwest of Grand Junction on Thursday. The event will have middle school and high school competition for both girls and boys.

Ram coach Jeff Lamoureux talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the mental aspect of distance running. “It’s important to be feeling stronger mentally as the season goes on. This will be our third meet, and we want our kids to get physically and mentally stronger each time out. Sometimes that doesn’t always show on the clock, but when they come through the finish line, we like them to feel stronger and that they’re getting better.”

Greene County’s first two high school cross-country meets of the season were in Ames for the Gilbert Invitational and near Menlo for the West Central Valley Wildcat Classic.
