It didn’t come easy, but the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers volleyball team (14-7 overall; 6-0 RRC) is one win away from their goal of repeating as Raccoon River Conference champions. The Tigers visited Boone Tuesday for a league bout versus the Toreadors (11-15 overall; 2-2 RRC). ADM kept their undefeated conference streak intact by dropping Boone in four sets (25-15, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20). The win gives the Tigers a share of the Raccoon River Conference title; They can clinch the league title outright next Tuesday against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays (15-6).

Tiger head volleyball coach Mary Beth Scott admits it wasn’t one of their better nights but was pleased with her team’s battling effort.”Even when you aren’t having the performances you’d like, it’s still a team effort, and you still didn’t show any frustration on the court,” Scott said, “You can’t let the other team see you sweat and they did a good job of holding in their emotions.”

Scott adds the team will face Boone two more times this month, including in the Class 4A Region 2 opener on October 18 in Adel. Sami Schepers topped the ADM offense with 20 kills while Josi Lonneman added 12. Jordan Hook registered 19 digs defensively. The win improves ADM’s overall record to 14-7 and 6-0 in Raccoon River Conference competition. The Tigers will host their final regular-season home contest tomorrow night against the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs (20-7) in non-conference action.
