Cooler and sometimes wet conditions greeted runners on Tuesday at the Lake City Country Club golf course for the South Central Calhoun Invitational. Greene County had a good day with the girls finishing fourth among 12 teams and the boys eleventh among 14 squads.

Leading Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s girls’ team was sophomore Bailey Cunningham with a fifth place finish in 21:55.94 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Usual number two runner Haley Hall was swimming for Boone and missed the meet, but sophomore Kassie Lamoureux moved up the ladder to be the Rams’ number two and she was seventeenth overall in 23:15.99. Freshman Conner Allender was twenty ninth in 24:25.10, followed by thirty third place Ashlee Harmeyer, a sophomore, who was timed in 24:40.08. Sophomore Izzy Bravard was fortieth in 25:17.70. There were 80 runners in the girls’ race.

Alta-Aurelia won the girls’ team title with 68 points and Pocahontas Area/Lauren-Marathon was next with 93. Ridge View was third and 96, followed by the Rams with 124 points. Ogden had 137, followed by the host Titans 138, OABCIG (Ida Grove) 161, Southeast Valley (Gowrie) 173, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) 215, Manson-Northwest Webster 254, West Bend-Mallard 313, and Sioux Central (Sioux Rapids) 332.

Woodward Academy won the boys’ race with 37 points and Ogden was second with 57. Kuemper Catholic had 109, followed by South Central Calhoun 115, Sioux Central 148, SEV 191, M-NW 199, A-A 212, OABCIG 220, WB-M 262, and Greene County at 273. PAC/L-M had 311 with 337 by Ridge View, and 356 for East Sac County (Lake View). This was the first time this season the Ram finished ahead of three teams.

Freshman Luis Velazco led Greene County in 20:06.00, good for 38th place. Sophomore Garrett Tasler was 45th in 20:31.14, followed by senior Nic Killion, 47th in 20:41.53. Round out the point scorers for the Rams were sophomore Brian Hardaway, 55th in 21:11.19, and freshman Josh Ewalt, 89th in 24:25.12

Dalton Butler of Paton-Churdan was 87th in 23:37.50. there were 96 runners in the boys’ race.
