Rippey Welcome SignGreene County Historical Society will be hosting their monthly program this Friday in Rippey.

The program will focus on the banking history of Rippey. The presenters are Nancy Bardole Hanaman and Cindy Anderson Cole, who were daughters of competing bankers in the City. The two banks were First National Bank, which is now People’s Trust and Savings Bank and Rippey Savings Bank, which preceded today’s Rolling Hills Bank and Trust.

The history of the two banks will be shared, along with robberies that occurred in 1896 and 1967.

The program is at 1pm at the United Methodist Church in Rippey on Friday. A lunch will be served prior to the program at noon. The cost for the meal is $8 for historical society members and $10 for non-members. The deadline to reserve a meal is today. For non-members, contact Hanaman at 436-7684 to reserve your spot.

The 1pm program is free and open to the public.
