A program geared toward women in agriculture is starting next week at the Greene County ISU Extension office.
“Women Marketing Grain” is a four-week course tailored for women in agriculture. Director Lori Mannel says this is the second set of programs which was started last year.
“Last winter we did ‘Annie’s Project,’ which is a women in ag six-week course. It was just a general overall topics of agriculture. This is specific to women marketing grain. So we all know that’s a big part of trying to make some money in farming, is how do you market your grain?”
Topics that will be covered include: identifying crop prices, determining storage costs, understanding price movements, utilizing crop marketing tools, as well as setting financial goals. The program takes place from 8:30 to 11:30am every Thursday in November, with the exception of Thanksgiving.
Cost to attend is just $75 per person, due to the sponsorship of the Iowa Corn Growers Association. The deadline to register is tomorrow. Call 386-2138 or stop by the Extension office in Jefferson to sign up.
