Greene County High School will once again be represented at next month’s Iowa High School Music Association’s All-State Music Festival.
Last weekend, several high school students auditioned in band and choir and one qualified for all-state in band. Director Wes Anderson says Kassie Lamoureux was selected on baritone saxophone. He notes that for Lamoureux, being chosen to participate in all-state is an outstanding achievement and believes her grace and musicianship she had during the audition, while performing under pressure, was a crucial point for Kassie to succeed. Anderson is in his third year at the high school and he has had four previous students make it to all-state including: Noah Von Stein, Reilly Harrington, Emily Heupel and Brittany Richardson.
Unfortunately for the choir program, no one was selected for all-state this year, which is Director David Heupel’s first time in his 19 years that no one was either recalled or been chosen to perform at all-state.
The festival takes place from November 16th through the 18th at Iowa State University.
