The Panorama girls finally have some breathing room at the top of the West Central Conference. Breathing room that they earned with a solid 58-39 win over Madrid in Panora last night. The victory brings their winning streak to seven games and pushes them to 8-1 on the season. Their only loss on the year is an overtime defeat at the hands of Class 1A state championship favorite Springville back in November.
The Panthers were also helped by Des Moines Christians victory over Earlham this Tuesday. Before that game, Earlham had been putting some pressure on Panoramas lead, with each team having just one loss on the season. With the win, however, Des Moines Christian takes over the second place spot at 6-2.
Alone atop the conference and playing their best basketball of the season, the Panthers will finish off their week with a boys/ girls doubleheader in Panora against Van Meter on Friday. Opening tip is scheduled for 6:00 pm for the girls and 7:30 pm for the boys.
