Greene County High School girls’ basketball teams have had difficulty defeating the Mustangs of PCM over the years. Coach Dean Lyons’ team will get another chance for an elusive victory over the Mustangs tomorrow night in Monroe. PCM won in Jefferson on Dec. 8 by a 59-46 score, and they’ve dominated the series since the Rams joined the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference more than 10 years ago when they were Jefferson-Scranton. PCM has 10 straight wins over the Rams and just once in 19 meetings have the Rams won. That was by just one point, 46-45, on Nov. 30, 2012.

Sophomore Rachel Freland of PCM is averaging more than 19 points a game and she put up 29 in the first meeting. Senior Laurin Lyons leads the Rams in scoring at 10.9 points per game.

The Friday night action in Monroe is a girl/boy doubleheader with coverage on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starting at 5:45 p.m. The girls play at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game will follow.
