Perry senior Connor Nielsen has put up solid numbers this year for head coach Dennis McDonnell and the Perry Bluejays.  The 6-6 swing man is averaging 15 points per game and is among the conference leaders in shot blocks as well.  He also leads the Perry squad in rebounding hauling in six boards a night.  Nielsen has been leaned on heavily to occupy the blocks this year, a role a little different from what he had  a year ago.

“You automatically think Connor will be a forward or center with his height but last year he would play the 3 spot for us just because of the size we had.  Janier (Puente) and Kyle (Nevitt) would use their size to play inside quite a bit and Connor would show his versatility from the outside.  This year, we have needed him almost exclusively to be in the blocks.”

Perry will look to bounce back from a tough home loss to Winterset Tuesday night when they travel to Ballard tomorrow.
