The Greene County boys’ basketball team rolled to a 72-36 non-conference victory in Coon Rapids vs. Coon Rapids-Bayard on Thursday night. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams improved to 11-7 while CR-B had a three game winning streak snapped and fell to 7-10. The Rams led 21-12 after one quarter, 38-20 at intermission, and 59-30 at the end of the third quarter. The game was broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
Greene County wet 32 of 63 for the game from the floor including seven of 16 from three-point range. They were just one of six shooting free throws. Six players scored from eight to 12 points with Lance Hughes having a dozen. Jordan Patterson and Ben Bravard each had 10 with nine apiece by Trey Hinote and Joe Towers. Wade Adcock scored eight. The Rams had just nine turnovers for the game despite playing a season high 15 players.
CR-B was 11 of 35 from the floor and 12 of 15 from the foul line. They made two of nine shots beyond the arc and had 15 turnovers. Ben Obert scored 18 points and Chase Heittoff added 10.
Greene County plays a girl/boy doubleheader tonight in Monroe vs. PCM. Coverage on KG98 starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
