Today marks the start of the competition season for a pair of Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers spring sports programs. The ADM boys and girls golf teams are scheduled to visit the Indian Creek Country Club in Nevada for a nonconference meet. The boy’s event will feature golfers from ADM, Nevada, North Polk, and Webster City; The girl’s event will feature golfers from ADM, Nevada, North Polk, Gilbert, and Ballard. Senior Micah Moyer says previous years weather forecasts haven’t provided the best playing conditions for the Nevada meet. “The only times we’ve played (the Indian Creek Country Club) is when it’s been cold and windy, just like it’s supposed to be this time,” Moyer said, “We’re used to it, we know how to play the course in the wind. Hopefully, (my) last time around, we can know what to do and play well.
Today’s forecast for the Indian Creek Country Club calls for a 20 percent chance of a rain/snow mix before noon, overcast skies throughout the day with highs in the mid to upper 40’s. Wind is expected out of the west around nine miles per hour. The ADM boys and girls golf meets tee off around 4 p.m. in Nevada. The No. 4 ADM girls soccer team is slated to start the 2018 season in Carroll this evening for a Raccoon River Conference match versus the Tigers. ADM posted 10 goals in a shutout victory over Carroll to open the 2017 season. Seven of the goals came off the feet of returning seniors Izzy LaFollette and Carli Hansen. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Carroll High School.
