Students in the Greene County School District earned high praise for academic and extracurricular activities.

Two high school students took home first place honors in the State of Iowa Physics Competition at the University of Northern Iowa. Linsey Kitt and Regan Lamoureux won the challenge problem event with a score of 199.23 out of a possible 200 points. Other state qualifiers included: Megan Durbin and Rachael Danielson in Catapult, Alex Robertson and Luis Velazco in Mousetrap Car, Megan Durbin and Haley Hall in Toothpick Bridge Building, and Ellie Madson and Kassie Lamoureux in Soda Straw Arm.

An assembly was also recently held for seventh and eighth graders for their accomplishments during the winter trimester. Principal Shawn Zanders recognized 11 students with perfect attendance, along with all girls and boys basketball players, wrestlers, band, vocal, spring play, lego league and student council participants. A retiring teacher, Tom Braun, was also recognized by a Carroll organization as an “A+ Teacher.”
