ADM Tigers

The top of the first inning set the tone for yesterday’s nonconference baseball game between the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers and the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs. The visiting Mustangs sent 13 batters to the plate in the first half inning of the game, plating seven runs on their way to a 13-6 victory over the Tigers. After the game, ADM head baseball coach Jason Book analyzed ADM’s defense in the top of the first inning. “We had a lot of walks, and we had a lot of errors,” Book said, “We gave up a lot of free bases, and then they take advantage and get hits on top of it so that just compounds it.”

Dallas Center-Grimes scored a season-high 13 runs before the fifth inning, plating two in the second, three more in the third, and one more in the fourth. ADM appeared to be headed for an early night after trailing 13-2 entering the bottom of the fifth inning. The Tigers kept the game going with a three-run frame, highlighted by a two-run double by junior Logan Crannell. The loss drops ADM’s overall record to 5-6. The Tigers will look for their first Raccoon River Conference win of the season Monday when they host the Ballard Bombers. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play-by-play coverage of the game on True Country K 107.9 starting with the Veteran Powersports & Equipment Pregame Show at 7 p.m.
