Perry Lutheran Homes 2

In mid-July, Perry Lutheran Homes will be hosting their inaugural “Run Through Time” event, and they invite the community to participate in the day’s activities.

PLH Director of Marketing Mollie Clark says the main event will be a 5K run, walk, or roll that anyone can take part in. The route will be filled with music and displays from different eras in time, and participants are encouraged to dress up to reflect their favorite decade. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed. For those that don’t fancy themselves distance runners, there will also be what Clark calls a “Decade Dash,” which will be more of a sprint.

‘Run Through Time’ was inspired by Perry Lutheran Homes’ “Music and Memory” program, as well as by their new STEP Up! initiative, which stands for “Serving Together our Elderly in Perry.” Clark explains how the event will contribute to STEP Up! “All proceeds from the ‘Run Through Time’ will go to support the cause of ‘stepping up’ for our elderly. There are individuals living in care communities that don’t have family, and they can’t bring them the basics of clothing, glasses, hearing aids, things like that. And there are also individuals living in their homes that are lonely and they can’t afford food. So the proceeds of ‘Run Through Time’ will go to support these elder citizens and their needs.”

Anyone interested in taking part can register now through July 10th. Cost is $40 per person, and you must register before July 1st to guarantee a t-shirt.
