Heavy rains appear to have subsided for now in the Raccoon River Valley, and though most water levels have dropped, there are several checkpoints in our listening area that are still above flood stage.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as of 10 a.m., the Middle Raccoon River near Bayard was measured at 16.78 feet and continues to slowly drop, but is still over the flood stage of 14 feet. Buttrick Creek near Grand Junction has also dropped slightly, and is now at 12.65 feet, with the flood stage being 12 feet. However, the North Raccoon River near Perry continues to rise and is now at 16.91 feet, above its flood stage of 15 feet.

The National Weather Service reports that there’s only a slight chance of rain for the rest of today, and the threat for severe weather is low.
