Greene County plays number 9 Roland-Story tonight in Roland in a Class 3A Region 3 high school softball postseason opener. The 8-18 Rams meet the 25-4 Norsemen for the third time this season. R-S won 5-3 in Jefferson early in the season, then won 7-4 last Thursday in Roland. The action can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and first pitch set for 7 p.m.

About facing R-S a third time, head coach Tom Kennedy told Raccoon Valley Radio, “Hopefully, that old saying about beating a team three times in one seasons is hard to do, comes true. It’s good in some ways because we’ve got a good scout on them. I’ve seen them play four times, so we know what we need to do. The bad thing is they’re pretty good! It’ll come down to execution, to what the players can do tonight. Hopefully, we can put one of our better performances out there.”

The Rams have allowed fewer runs to opponents down the stretch than earlier in the campaign. A reduction in errors has helped the cause, and senior Samantha Hardaway has taken over the starter’s role and has thrown the ball very well, especially over the last 10 days.
