Ogden was a 2-0 non-conference baseball winner on Monday night over Greene County on the Bulldogs’ home field. The win was the tenth in the last 11 games for Coach Dick Smith’s team while the Rams lost for just the second time in its last 11. Ogden is 20-5 while Greene County fell to 14-9.
Sophomore Dylan Elbert never was in trouble against Greene County. The right hander allowed just five total base runners and only one came with less than two outs. The Rams did not get a single leadoff hitter on base. Ben Wilkins, Nick Breon, and Tyler Teeples each singled for the only base hits off Elbert and all three came with two outs and no one on base. Elbert walked a batter with one out in the sixth, and he hit a batter with two down in the seventh. Monday marked the third time this season the Rams have been held off the scoreboard.
Wilkins took the pitching loss, falling to 5-2.He gave up two runs, one earned, with four strikeouts and one walk. Seven of Ogden’s eight hits came off Wilkins with one given up by reliever Austin Delp.
Greene County is off until playing South Central Calhoun in Lytton on Thursday in another non-conference contest.
