Today starts the 15th season of leading the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers cross country teams for David Zwank. Zwank told Raccoon Valley Radio in a recent interview, he began as the head coach of Tiger varsity cross country programs in the fall of 2003. He says among the most significant changes to the sport during his tenure at ADM has been the length of the girl’s races. “When we were starting (my) first year, the girls were only running a 2 mile (race),” Zwank said, “Then, (it) eventually progressed into being a 4K (2.48 miles). Then (recently), they’ve changed to girls running a 5K (race).”

Girls cross country runners have been running 5K races since the 2015 season. Zwank’s 14th season last fall saw the ADM boys cross country team advance the squad to the state race in Fort Dodge for the first time since 2006. Incoming senior Sadie Jurgens also qualified for the state race as an individual.
