acgcThe ACGC volleyball team picked up a little late season action as they participated in Saturday’s Cumberland-Anita-Massena Invitational in Anita.

The Chargers got off to a good start in pool play, sweeping Ar-We-Va (21-14,21-19) and Paton-Churdan (21-11, 21-10). The gold and black dropped their third and final match in pool play to Underwood (13-21, 15-21). The Chargers are now 0-3 against the Underwood Eagles this season.

By finishing 2nd in pool play, ACGC drew host CAM in the semifinals. CAM got out to an early lead thanks to a 5-0 run. ACGC responded with a 7-2 scoring run of their own to tie the set at 14. The Cougars eventually pulled away to win the first set 25-23. The Chargers responded by crushing the Cougars in the second set, forcing a third with a 25-16 victory. The third and final set was tight, but CAM prevailed by rattling off four straight points to win, 15-13.

ACGC’s overall record now sits at 17-9 with three matches to go before the postseason. They will head to Ogden for a triangular against the host Bulldogs and Greene County. The Chargers finish up regular season play at Pleasantville on Thursday.
