acgcFor the last two seasons, the only action the ACGC and Panorama football teams saw on the same field was during a preseason scrimmage. On Friday, both squads will meet up for real with plenty on the line. Panorama hosts ACGC in a week eight clash for Guthrie County supremacy.

Both squads are headed two different directions. The Chargers’ direct rivals have dropped four of their last five contests. Most recently, the Panthers suffered a 36-6 loss at district leading Van Meter. They currently sit right behind ACGC in the IAHSAA Playoff RPI standings, coming into week eight at number 35.

The Chargers will enter week eight as one of the trending teams in Class 1A. Winners of back-to-back games for the first time in program history, the Chargers have outscored their opponents 64-28 in that stretch. Head coach Cody Matthewson says his players need to stay focused to keep the momentum going.

“It’s just going to be another game where we just have to stay disciplined and do our job and get everybody back and get everybody healthy. We’re just going to focus on Panorama and be 1-0. We kind of control our own destiny right now. Our goal is to win out obviously. Winning out would be nice but our goal is to take care of business on Friday night.”

Panorama leads the district in team passing yards with 1,303, while ACGC is 2nd in the district in team rushing yards with 1,582.
