Greene County faces a tough task on Friday night. The Rams (5-6, 3-4) go to Gilbert to meet the eighth ranked girls’ team in Class 4A, and the third ranked boys’ squad in 3A. It’s the second and final meeting of the season between the schools with the Tigers winning both games in Jefferson last month in convincing fashion.

On the boys’ side, Greene County has high scoring guard Trey Hinote, who averages nearly 21 points per game. Junior Carter Morton is another potentially high scoring guard. The final two games of 2018, both losses, Morton was held to six and seven points. He began 2019 with a career best 30 points in an overtime victory in Des Moines vs. Saydel last Friday. That performance boosted Morton season scoring average to 16.45 points. None of the other Rams average more than five points, but bench play was quite good against the 2-8 Eagles.

Gilbert is 9-1 overall and 7-0 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ games. Friday night’s game is the second half of a conference twin bill on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with the girls’ game at 6 p.m.
