Dan Lindsay
Law enforcement officials and emergency personnel around Dallas County are mourning the loss of one of their own, following the death of long-time paramedic Dan Lindsay.
Lindsay had worked for Dallas County Emergency Medical Services since 1999, and according to EMS Director Mike Thomason he was well-loved by anyone who had the pleasure of serving alongside him. Thomason says Lindsay was a diligent worker for his entire 19-year career, right up until his death. It was determined the 49-year-old died due to complications with influenza A, which had been undiagnosed until recently. Thomason says Lindsay also dealt with atrial fibrillation for several years, which also contributed. During most of his time with Dallas County EMS, Lindsay partnered with Lee Coons. Coons gave a heartfelt sendoff to his former colleague, saying he’ll continue to try and live up to the standards Lindsay set for being caring and compassionate.
Several entities around Dallas County offered their condolences to the Lindsay family and the members of the EMS Department. Messages of support came from the Perry Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Adel and Minburn Fire and Rescue, Dallas County Emergency Management, and others. A visitation for Lindsay will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, located at 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with funeral services on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Hope on Jordan Creek Parkway. Other ambulance services in the area have volunteered to cover Dallas County so that the members of the EMS Department could all attend the services. His comrades left a final message for Lindsay: “Rest easy brother, we’ll take it from here.”
