You know that it’s summertime when the Adel Family Aquatic Center reopens for the season, which happened this past week.

The opening of the pool has seen a few hiccups, such as last Sunday it had to close due to low chlorine levels, and the following day it closed early due to weather and low attendance. However, since then the attendance has steadily risen, and with all area schools now dismissed for the summer, the usage of the aquatic center is expected to spike. The pool is open daily from 12:30-5 p.m., has family swim and adult lap swim from 5-6, and then free swim again from 6-8. Also, starting on June 17th, the center will start offering morning lap swim on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30-8 a.m.

The hours will also change the weeks of July 8th and 15th, as the pool will close at 5:45 p.m. each day for swim lessons. The cost to visit the aquatic center daily is $2 for children two-years-old and younger, $6 for those between the ages of 3 and 54, and $5 for people 55 and older. There are also daily family passes available for $20. Additionally, you can purchase season passes, with a single pass costing $80 and a family pass $165 for those who live in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District, and for those outside the District it costs $100 and $195, respectively. Credit and debit cards are accepted for admission, though the concession stand is cash only.
