The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with reports, including two from Superintendent Clark Wicks, where he outlined the recent Board retreat and warned of the pending parking lot closure for the new wrestling/multipurpose room construction. Board President Kyle Baxter then gave a report on the wrestling and tech additions, including a timeline for the project. The first four action items each related to the $6.5 million general obligation bond referendum, including: appointing UMB, N.A. of Des Moines as the paying agent, bond registrar, and transfer agent for the bond; approval of the form of tax exemption certificate and continuing disclosure certificate; and authorizing the issuance of the entire bond sum.

Following that, the Board held a public hearing on the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for the wrestling and tech additions project, which no one spoke against. Next, the Board approved awarding the bid for package one, which includes the site preparation work, in the amount of $815,000 to Koester Construction of Des Moines. They then approved a master planning agreement with architecture firm UNESCO for upcoming middle school projects. Much of the remaining agenda involved yearly appointments, including: Kent Bultman as Board Secretary and Treasurer; Drew Bracken of Ahlers & Cooney Law Firm as legal counsel; Raccoon Valley Bank as the primary bank depository, UA Bank, Wells Fargo, and ISJIT as supplemental bank depositories, and assigning limit amounts; Mel Raskie and Wicks as Level I and Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn as Level II student abuse by school employee investigators; Angelica Cardenas-Diaz as equity and equal opportunity and affirmative action officer, as well as homeless coordinator; and Laura Skeel as section 504 coordinator and Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator.

The Board also approved student handbook changes, a request to dispose of tagged inventory items for Perry Elementary, new hires, and revisions to Board policies.
