A historic tour of Guthrie County’s stagecoach route and area ghost towns is happening this Saturday.

Guthrie County Historical Village Foundation Member and local historian Rod Stanley is guiding a tour of the road that was built in 1853. In 2008 Boy Scout Troop 127 member William Frels researched the route, created signs with sponsorship from local businesses, and installed the 19 signs on the 29.4 mile route. Stanley will be stopping at various locations on the route, giving stories and historical facts for this free educational event. Participants are asked to bring a picnic lunch and drive their own vehicle. Organizers will try to match up those without vehicles with a driver. The event will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. To preregister, call the Historical Village at 641-755-2989 or email gchv@netins.net.
