The 2019 Iowa State Fair is in full swing, and several competitions held throughout the event have been decided, with many winners from all around Dallas County.

First, in the FFA and 4-H categories, Trey Lettow of Woodward had the Supreme Champion Breeding Gilt in the Breeding Swine Show. Next, in the Cultural Center contests, Beth Grabau of Adel was named Best of Show in the Miniature Rooms or Scenes division of the Doll Houses and Miniature Rooms competition. Also, Kimberly Hall of Adel took first in the Youth – Three-Dimensional Art category in Fine Arts. In the Fabric and Threads portion, it was Nancy Kiley of Perry winning first place in the Clothing Construction category for her Children – Sleepwear piece, and she also took first in Quilting, Individual – Pieced (300+). Also in Quilting, Jeri Pieper of Dexter was awarded first place in Combination – Paper Pieced Quilt.

In the Food categories, Katherine Cornwell of Adel earned first place in the Fruit Pie (Adults), while also taking second place overall in the Iowa Orchards Creations competition. Cornwell also placed first in Bread Machine Bread in the King Arthur Four Bread contest. Finally, in General Contests, BrandyAnn Dwyer from Dexter won first place in the Photograph – General Beekeeping category of the Apiary competition. Additionally, Harold Howe of Redfield was honored for his Hometown Grape Dry Red and Homegrown Sweet Red Grape in the Oenology: Wine contest. The Iowa State Fair will continue through Sunday, and Raccoon Valley Radio will report all the winners from Dallas County after the event has concluded.
