The Guthrie Center School District is making some changes in its bus routes due to a staffing shortage this fall.

Three drivers resigned last year and while the Board is in the process of hiring replacements, Superintendent Dennis McClain explains how they are mitigating the situation, “It’s always tough to have enough bus drivers so we are currently looking. We have reduced one of our routes here in Guthrie Center so we’ll have drop off points in town rather than dropping off students individually so that’ll be different this year and again that’s just because of reduced availability of drivers.”

Additionally, the district is having other back to school activities. Guthrie Center Elementary will have its open house tomorrow from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and freshman orientation will be at 6 p.m. at the high school. For more information on the bus routes, contact the Superintendent’s office at 641-332-2972. To hear more from McClain, listen today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
