Greene County took part in Thursday’s West Central Valley Co-ed Cross-Country Invitational south of Menlo on the 5 x 80 Golf Course. Head coach Jeff Lamoureux and assistant Lindsey Duncan watched their runners  perform well on a warm & humid day.

Coach Amoureux reports the girls were third among nine teams with 92 points, well behind first place Nodaway Valley with 33 and runner-up Panorama at 35. Ashlee Harmeyer was ninth to lead Greene County, followed by Kassie Lamoureux (17), Conner Allender (19), Makala Kafer (35) and Tieryn Tucker (39).

The boys from Greene County were fourth among 11 teams with 103 points. Luis Velasco was eleventh, followed by Logan Woodruff (12), Connor Brus (21), Jose Velasco (29), Ethan Frederick (34).

The head coach said, “It was a bit warm, but the kids fought through and had a great day competing. It’s nice to see Greene County near the top. We have some work to do to be able to compete with some of the elite teams like Nodaway Valley and Panorama, but we are definitely headed in the right direction.”
